Ronald C. Nicholls

Ronald C. “Ron” Nicholls, 78, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, August 25, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital. He was born July 8, 1944 in Rockford, IL, the son of Glenn V. and Dorothy (Berndt) Nicholls. He graduated from Hononegah High School. Ron proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed at Taylor Freezer in Rockton, for 35 years. After leaving Taylor, Ron worked a variety of odd jobs for anyone in need. He enjoyed riding horses, snowmobiles and motorcycles in his younger years. Ron could spend hours tending to his yard and flowers. He was a family first man who adored his family. Most of all, Ron will be remembered as a hardworking, friendly man who always made time to lend a helping hand.

Ron is loved and missed by his children, Randy (Nicole) Nicholls of Tampa, FL and Sheri (John) Edwards of Tampa, FL; sister, Nancy Calvert of Machesney Park; brother, Steven (Susan) Nicholls of Chandler, AZ; grandsons, Tyler and Cameron Akey of Tacoma and Bremerton, WA; granddaughters, Chellis and Emily Nicholls of Tampa, FL; loving companion, Kaye Meusling of Machesney Park; and the mother of his children, Jeanne Mayland. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Glenn.

A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2022 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford, IL 61102.
