Roger D. Horstmeier

Roger D. “Rod” Horstmeier, age 87 of Freeport, IL passed away at home surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He was born December 23, 1933 in Davis, IL. Son of Raymond and Anna (Schurch) Horstmeier. He graduated from Dakota High School in 1951. He married Barbara Marty on May 16, 1954. He attended University of Madison in Agriculture. Worked on the family farm in his early 20’s. Worked at Sunstrand Aviation in the test lab for 10 years. Started and ran a business in television sales and services for 25 years. Owned and managed apartments for 30 years. He was a boating and motorcycle enthusiast. Member of the Masonic Lodge, Eagles Club and Rockford Power Squadron. Belonged to the United Methodist Church of Davis, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Anna Horstmeier; sister, Marcia Horstmeier; brother, Marvin Horstmeier. Survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Debora (Russell) Boyer of Ridott, IL; son, Craig (Laura) Horstmeier of Davis, IL; grandchildren, Rhonda Fager, Angela Doane, Jeffery Boyer, Stacey Horstmeier and Sheila Kinsey; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Boeger and Maryann Stubbe. A Private Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Per his request Cremation Rites were accorded.
