Robert L. "Bob" King, 83, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away, Saturday, December 21, 2024 after a battle with cancer. He was born May 15, 1941 in Meyersdale, PA, the son of Elwood and Josephine (Sturtz) King. He graduated from High School and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1965-1968. He worked as a Rifle Expert, Rifle Marksman and an auto mechanic while serving in the Army. He married Saundra L. James and they moved from Clinton, Iowa to Machesney Park, IL so that Bob could work at Chrysler in Belvidere. Bob enjoyed working with his hands, especially working on cars. He loved spending time with his friends.
Bob is survived by his children, Robin (Tom) Rodriguez and Kirk (Dee) King; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Krystopher, Courtney and Brock; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-laws, Stephen James and Robert (Brenda) James; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Saundra, and several siblings.
A private entombment of ashes with military honors will be held.
