Lu Ann Walters, 89, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 28, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at River Bluff Care Center. She was born March 7, 1935 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Vernis and Vida (Beck) Packard. She graduated from West High School, class of 1953. Lu Ann married the love of her life, Romaine Walters, on October 22, 1960 at Court Street United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Lu Ann served in the Choir Mothers Guild for several years. She was an artist and loved fashion drawings and watercolor. Lu Ann adored her children and grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be missed.
Lu Ann is survived by her children, Rae Ann (Steve Benedict) Walters, Mark Walters and John (Vincent Mannella) Walters; grandson, Cody Walters and great-grandson, Tyler Andersen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Romaine, and brother Jack Packard.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 North Court Street, Rockford, Illinois with Pastor Calvin Culpepper officiating.
