Celia Cabrera, 89, of Machesney Park, IL, formerly of Loves Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, June 29, 2023 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. She was born June 13, 1934 in Laredo, TX, the daughter of Jesus and Juliana (Cuevas) Cabrera. Celia graduated from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI with her Bachelors of Science degree. She was a gifted educator for Memorial Baptist School and Rockford Public School District before retirement. Celia was a devoted member of North Love Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and the Jolly 60’s group. She loved listening to Christian music and playing the accordion. Celia adored writing and had a collection of typewriters. She was a simple and very loved woman who will be missed by her family.
Celia is survived by her sister, Mary (Jim) Ergle; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Lupe, Albert, John, Ramona and Denny.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2023 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Ron Haese officiating. Entombment in Willwood Burial Park.
