On Friday, September 17, 1937, Bernice Martha Harmant was born into this world to Dorothy (Stemwell) Harmant of Milwaukee, WI. Bernice endured years of heartache until she was taken into the loving home of the Sutter family. The Sutters led her to her faith and loved her unconditionally. She went on to pursue a nursing career and it was during this time that she met the suave and debonair, Sam Fertitta. He swept her off her feet on roller skates and they wed on January 25, 1956 in Beloit, WI. Their love spanned six decades. Together, they raised 7 children. She worked very hard taking care of her family and grew in her faith to become Reverend. Spreading the word and caring for others was her calling. Even in retirement, she volunteered for 20 years at Mercy Health as a chaplain, and for years worked at hospice. In her final days, she was cared for lovingly by her family and friends. She entered the Kingdom that was paved for her on October 26, 2018. Bernice was loved by all and will be missed tremendously.
