Robert Eugene 'Mac' McFerren, better known as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Bob was born April 20, 1926, the son of the late Gerald 'Lucky' and Grace Marie (Rawson) McFerren in Toronto, Ohio. He attended Toronto High School and was a 1944 graduate of Wellsburg High School in Wellsburg, West Virginia. He was a World War II Veteran who proudly served in Germany between 1944-1946 as a Sergeant in the Army. After his military service, he graduated from Allegheny Technical Institute in Pittsburgh.
Bob began his career in TV repair. He then founded in partnership Valley TV and Appliance in East Rochester and New Brighton. Mac ran a successful business for 35 years. He enjoyed selling and loved talking with people. After retiring from Valley TV, he worked for Beaver County Help-A-Person (HAP) Enterprises for over 10 years.
Bob was a former resident of New Sewickley Township and Monaca. He also, more recently, spent several years in Florida living his dream in a condo on the beach before returning to Beaver County.
Bob was a Scout leader in Rochester of Pack 7 and Troop 436. Bob was a long time member of the former First United Presbyterian Church in Rochester and the former St. Luke's Church in East Rochester. He served many years in church leadership roles including teacher, Childrens Jr. Church, and Elder. Robert was a man of faith and devoted to God. He will always be remembered as giving, positive and optimistic, never a complaint, and always a joy to be around. Bob was a blessing to his family and all who knew him. He will be missed.
Robert is preceded in death by both parents; sisters, Anna Louise (Edward) Delehanty and Beverly Jean (Edwin) Crabtree. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Clara Mae Lantz, and daughter Debra Ann (Dennis) Paar. In addition, he was preceded in death by his second wife Evelyn Meteney (Frishkorn); stepsons, Robert C. and Charles G. Frishkorn.
He is survived by two sons; Gary Lee (Kathleen Jill) McFerren of Raccoon Township, Robert Allen (Jane Randolph) McFerren of The Villages, Florida; stepson, Phillip J. (Denise) Frischkorn, East Liverpool, OH, two step granddaughters; Laura (Zach) Clark, Amanda (Jacob) Machi; son in law Dennis Paar and a good friend, Agnes Metzger, Florida.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 3-7pm and Monday, October 21, 2024 from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). The service will be officiated by the Reverend Dr. Richard Herbster of Mt. Pleasant Church, Raccoon Township. Full military honors will be held in Bob's honor by the Beaver County Special Unit.
