Nancy Jean Liston, 68, a lifelong resident of New Sewickley Township, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, July 30, 2013. She was born May 5, 1945, daughter of the late Henry and Zelma (Bott) Mohrbacher.
Nancy was a 1963 Graduate of Freedom High School and in 1965 graduated as a LPN from the Ambridge Area School of Nursing. She was employed at Rochester Hospital and later at the Geriatric Center, now known as Friendship Ridge, where she retired after 28 years of dedicated service.
Nancy was a wonder wife, mother and grandmother. Although diagnosed with a rare health disorder known as Ehlers Danlos, Nancy never focused her life’s energy on caring for her, but rather always selflessly concentrated of serving and meeting the needs of others. As a faithful member of the Unionville United Methodist Church, she was involved with many activities of the church. Her heart was committed to the Compassionate Care Ministry, coordinating the donation efforts of the Food and Clothing Pantry. Through the years, Nancy made sure that countless families received assistance, particularly during the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was always concerned about the needs of others. In 2005, she humbly received recognition as the Community Person of the Year.
Away from work and her ministry at the church, Nancy kept busy with family life and also had interests that varied from selling AVON to ceramic crafting and an occasional D.J. gig with her son Chucky. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Nancy is survived by her husband: Edward Liston, with whom she would have celebrated 47 years of marriage this October; two sons: Charles “Chucky” Liston and Craig Liston, both of New Sewickley; one daughter and son-in-law: Crystal and Arty Westover, Daugherty Township; three grandchildren: Nicole Liston, Emily and Cody Westover; two brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Bonnie Mohrbacher; Mark and Tonya Mohrbacher, all of New Sewickley; one sister and brother-in-law: Sue Ann and Daniel Evans, New Sewickley; and her faithful golden lab companion: Harley.
Friends will be received today, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, August 2nd from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, GPS 848 Sunflower Road). A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday in the Unionville United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service, Rev. Douglas B. Myers, Jr., officiating. Private interment will be in Burns Cemetery, New Sewickley.
