Earl W. Strohm, Jr., 89 of Valencia, formerly of the Wireton-South Heights area, passed on Monday, November 26, 2018. He was born March 27, 1929 in Aliquippa, son of the late Earl W. and Helen (Donaldson) Strohm. Earl proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Earl was a former member of the Hopewell VFW.
He retired from the Aliquippa Works of Jones & Laughlin Steel where he was an inspector. After moving to Valencia, he enjoyed working at the Gibsonia Shop & Save, greeting shoppers and forming friendships that lasted beyond his years of employment. Earl was a real genuine people person.
In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a self-taught carpenter and handyman. Earl also loved spending time simply playing cards with his wife Thelma.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brother: Lou “Snooky” Strohm and his sister: Norma “Sis” Strohm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years: Thelma G. (Picken) Strohm; one son and daughter-in-law: Earl W. (Amy) Strohm, III, Placentia, CA; two daughters and a son-in-law: Ruth Strohm, Ambridge; Helen (Dean) Phillips, Knoxville, TN; two stepdaughters: Sharon King, Saxonburg and Karen Welder, Rochester; five grandchildren: Rayna, Ashley, Dana, Rob and Jennifer.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 30, 2018 from noon until 2 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Military Honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
