Dorothy Jean Reed, also known as Jeanie, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 30th, 2013, with her family by her side. She was 75 years old and a resident of Chippewa Township for the last 46 years.
Born in Beaver Falls, August 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy F. (Meyers) Simmons and the late Oliver N. Simmons. Jeanie lived a full life growing up on a farm in New Sewickley. She Graduated from Freedom High School in 1958. Jeanie worked for the Westinghouse Corporation in Vanport, PA for eleven years; where she met her husband Wilbert O. Reed. She was also a retired employee for McCarter Bus Company, where she had worked for eleven years. Jeanie was a member of Christ Devine Teacher Church in Chippewa, and often attended mass at SS Peter & Paul Church in Beaver.
Jeanie truly loved her daughters with all her heart and would do anything for them. She assisted with Brownies and Girl Scouts and was always a positive influence. She loved animals, life, camping, the beach, and her vacations. Jeanie was always more than willing to learn something new.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert O. Reed in 2010 and an infant brother Barry Simmons.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: Tracy J. Reed and Paul Gossard of Monaca PA; Lesley A. Alexander and Edward A. Alexander of Hickory, PA; Vickey E. Heberlein and Dennis E. Heberlein of Bristolville, OH; one Grandson: E.J. Alexander; two sisters JoAnn Molina of San Antonio, Texas, and Janet Skiba of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Charles and Nina Simmons of NC and David and Pam Simmons of VA.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 200 Third Street, Beaver with the Rev. Fr. Bob Miller, celebrant. Everyone is kindly asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Laurels, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
