Raymond Harold Tilly

August 18, 1956-December 10, 2024

Ray Tilly passed away at home Tuesday, December 10th. He was raised in Dearborn, Michigan, where he spent much of his childhood with his neighborhood friends on the boulevard. Ray was an accomplished runner, competing in Cross Country and distance track and field events. He graduated from Fordson High School in 1974.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Michigan- Dearborn. Ray started his career at Ford Motor company, just like his father. He then went to work for Chrysler and earned his MBA from Detroit Mercy while he was working. Over his thirty year career at Chrysler, Ray worked on many incredible teams to develop new technologies to advance the safety of today’s vehicles.

Ray’s crowning accomplishment was always his family. He took pride in being a dad, spending countless hours timing, cheering and recording swim meets. He was so proud of his kids and all their accomplishments through adulthood.

When Ray arrived in heaven he was embraced by his father, William Tilly, his mother, Ann Tilly and his sister Margaret. He was also lovingly greeted by his mother-in-law Jeanne Barger and father-in-law Lewis “Ben” Barger. He is survived by his amazing wife of nearly 40 years, Ellen, their two children Katie (Tomek Dow), and Trevor (Molly) and his sweet girl, his dog Stella.

A celebration in Ray’s Memory will be held January 11, 2025 at Pixley funeral home in Rochester, Michigan.
