Michael John O’Sullivan, age 71, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away on February 14, 2021. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 23, 1949. Michael attended Benedictine High School in Detroit, graduating in 1967. From there, he went on to attend the University of Detroit, graduating in 1973. Michael married Joan Bullo on July 11, 1992.
He had a long career in the automotive industry which began at Ford Motor Company, working during the summers for Ford National Parts Depot in Livonia while he was attending college. Michael was eventually hired full time and his career took him around the world for Ford and Ford Tractor Operations. He retired from Ford in 2005 as Purchasing Director for Global Advanced Programs in North America, Europe and Asia. Michael then went on to work for Magna International as Director of Sales and Marketing, North America and Asia until 2012. Later, Michael worked for Samsung SDI, Automotive Group as Vice President of Sales and Marketing North America Battery Business until 2016. In 2016, Mike then began his own professional consulting business.
Mike had a passion for living a full and active life with his family and friends. Whether it was at his home in Rochester Hills, his home up north, or his condo in Florida, enjoying boating, snowmobiling, as well as motorcycles and classic cars. Mike always took pride in how his residences were maintained. It was a hobby that kept him quite busy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger W. O’Sullivan and Mary R. (nee Miney) O’Sullivan; and his brother, Thomas P. O’Sullivan.
Michael is survived by his wife, Joan; his children: Casey, Shannon, Brendan and Justin; his sisters, Mary Anne (H. WiIliam) Reising, Kathleen (James, deceased) Riney, Maureen (Roy) Bartz; his brothers, Daniel F. (Rosanne) O’Sullivan, Patrick T. O’Sullivan, James J. (Anne) O’Sullivan; sister-in-law, Diane McGrath O’Sullivan, Thomas’s wife; and many nieces and nephews. Mike loved and adored his family.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 10 AM, gathering beginning at 9:30 AM, at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, 771 Old Perch Rd., Rochester Hills, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to Capuchin Soup Kitchen or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
