Mary was born the daughter of Clyde and May (Sullivan) Owsley in Mayfield, Kentucky on March 3, 1921. She graduated High School in 1939 and married Marvin Lancaster on October 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy for sixty-five years, serving as adult Sunday School leader for several years.
Mary enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and the national parks. She liked gardening, roses were her specialty. Most of all, Mary loved her family.
Mary is survived by her son Lawrence (Carole) Lancaster, Dale (Cynthia) Lancaster; grandchildren Joseph (Dawn) Lancaster, Nathan (Tracey) Lancaster, Aaron (Kristen) Lancaster, Deb (Rob) Dickman, and Julie (Kevin) Yen. Mary was predeceased by her husband Marvin Lancaster; her parents; her sons Rodney and David Lancaster; and her brother Hubert Owsley.
Mary’s family will welcome all to visitation on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at 10 a.m. (9:30 a.m. In State) at First Baptist Church of Troy, located at 2601 John R Road in Troy, Michigan. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s honor to First Baptist Church of Troy. Envelopes will be available at Pixley Funeral Home and the church.
