My deepest condolences to the Ison family. I was John’s  housekeeper  for 13 years. He was an amazing person to be around and was so full of life. I will miss sharing recipes tasting new things you have cooked, and every year we had our traditional Christmas cocktail. I will miss all of the conversations/laughs we shared. Most importantly I’ll miss the love you had for me and my family.  Your wonderful spirit has touch my heart tremendously . I love you dearly rest peacefully my friend.

I met John sitting at the bar at Capitol Grill, we talked about politics & music, was great to meet someone who could relate so well.  We always had that connection & am so fortunate for every minute of it. He will live on in my memories for the warm loving compassionate man he was. My heart truly hurts, love & miss you John for the rest of my days.

We are saddened to hear of the loss of your dad.    Jerry and I often reminisce about the years we were backyard neighbors.  John had a great laugh and he and Jerry had quite a few great conversations over the fence about landscaping and baseball.  We remember fondly going to the Cubs first ever night baseball game with your parents.   Every time I hear a Joe Bonamassa song, I will smile and think of your dad.

Where do you start, in Chicago at Frank's, then in Detroit, in the corporate office, Christmas stores. Store operations. John and I had  a great career path together. We had some crazy days and some tough ones, but we always worked through everything together. I loved his passion for plants and to just sit down together and pick a subject, and share our views with each other. I am so happy I was able to have those great memories of John. My thoughts and prayers for John's family and friends.

John was a giving human being who loved   his Beautiful flowers and landscape who loved his family and friends.

I am sending my sincere condolences to John’s family and close friends. John and I worked together when we were both working for John Henry. He taught me so much about the nursery business and was always happy to help. We shared a love for golden retrievers and his backyard was a showplace!  I am keeping you all in my thoughts during this difficult time.  I know Peat was waiting for him tail wagging. Peace.

Bill Bunio I first. met John when he was a store manager. Coincidentally our kids went to the same school. We planted a tree with the kids at that school. We stayed in touch & crossed paths again when he was a buyer at Frank’s & I worked for Zelenka Nursery. He was always a fair gentleman & I cherished our friendship. Rest in peace. Dear Family,

so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a good friend and great boss back in the old Frank's Nursery days. One of my fondest memories was when we traveled out to Mission Bay California for a buying trip. John wanted to go out and check out Pebble Beach Golf Club while we were out there.   He was a mentor to me and his experience, kindness and professionalism have always stayed with me.

`I met John in early '90 while we both worked for Franks.  We were both part of the Franks first class of DM school.  Great guy. we shared stories of baseball playing catch one evening after class. He told me he was drafted by the Reds. My team since I was a kid.  He made his mark on Franks and all the people he came in contact with.

So sad to hear this news.  While working at Frank’s Nursery we shared many intense, passionate conversations about plants!  Prayers of comfort and peace for John’s family.

RIP Johnny. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ison family. Johnny was a childhood and lifelong friend. We played baseball together since we were about 8 years old and he was just an amazing friend and person. He was one in a million and will truly be missed.
