E. Jean Miller was born October 18, 1941, in Utica, Michigan to Clarence E. and Stella Healy Geil. Following her Baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church, her family moved to Rochester where she spent the rest of her life and as a life-time member at St. John Lutheran Church where she was Confirmed in 1955 by the Rev. Walter Gerken and graduated from St. John Lutheran School. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1959, and on February 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Miller at St. John by Rev. Richard L. Schlecht. Their union was blessed with three sons – David, Charles and Aaron. As an adult she was the office manager for Martin E. Heins, C.P.A. in Rochester. For many years she was on the staff at St. John involved in the church, school and foundation financial affairs and helped establish the bell choirs. In her spare time she enjoyed biking, skiing, reading, running and knitting. She was summoned by her Lord to her eternal home in the late evening hours of January 4, 2012, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital – Oakland. She was the beloved wife of Robert Miller. Dear mother of David (Christine) Miller of Pittsboro, NC, Charles (Judy) Miller of Metamora and Aaron (Lisa) Miller of Rochester. She was the grandmother of nine and the great-grandmother of one. She was the sister of Elwyn “Al” (Jean) Geil of Rochester Hills and Ralph (Karen) Geil of Napolean, OH. Christian Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Churchl, 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester, the Rev. Ray Scherbarth and the Rev. Stephen Schilke officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills. Following the burial service, friends and relatives are invited to return to St. John for a luncheon. Memorial contributions to the St. John Lutheran Church and School Foundation in memory of Jean would be greatly appreciated as the family would like to establish a fund for the furthering of the Handbell Choir Ministry. www.pixleyfh.com
