Elizabeth A. Curcio (Sims), 73, of Rochester Hills, MI, passed away February 3, 2024. Elizabeth was born in St. Louis, MO on November 6, 1950. A graduate of Trinity College and Thomas Cooley Law School, Elizabeth raised her two children, Laura Jane and Louis Anthony, with her husband of 40 years, John B. Curcio (dec. February 20, 2019).
Elizabeth loved to travel the world, frequently with her dear sister and brother in law Kathleen and Joseph Trad. She was particularly fond of her several trips to Israel and, most recently, to Greece and Turkey.
Elizabeth battled Rheumatoid Arthritis for years with a quiet dignity and grace. Her family is so proud of her and how hard she fought against it.
Over the last couple of years, Elizabeth was proud of the work she did at her daughter and son-in-law’s audiology practice—showing up five days a week to help in the office—and of her charity work at various women’s shelters.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Laura Jane Curcio (Jay Springer), son Louis Anthony Curcio (Gabrielle Curcio), grandchildren (Lilia Suau, Tess Curcio, Luca Curcio), sisters Kathleen Trad (Joseph Trad), Laura Duffy, Mary Ellen Wybenga, brothers Richard Sims (Kim Scharff) and Michael Sims (Kathleen Nelson) and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Betty Ann and William, her brothers Thomas and William, and sister Marian.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Autoimmune Association (www.autoimmune.org).
Visitation will be held on February 8, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (eastern) at Pixley Funeral Home, in Rochester, MI. A service will be held at Pixley Funeral Home on February 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. (eastern), followed by a burial at Mount Avon Cemetery.
