Betsy was born in Springfield, Missouri to W.Dale and Mary Carney. She earned her Master's Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri and spent her early career as a dedicated High School Guidance Counselor. She would later work for a time as a travel agent and finally as a para-pro with the Rochester Community Schools.
Betsy was devoted to her family, and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. One of her passions was family genealogy and she would spend hours tracing down and confirming connections for her family tree. She also cherished her time with her friends, whether it was enjoying a night with the "Bunco Babes" or meeting with her Saturday morning breakfast club.
Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Russell, her sons Jeff (Jessica) Waegelin, Chris Waegelin, and Matt Waegelin (Janet Skrbina), her grandchildren Emilia, Audrey, and Isaac. She also leaves behind her brother James (Beverly) Carney, sister-in-law K. Baxter, brother-in-law Brian Herman, niece Jenny (Chris) Goodman, and nephew Bart (Mandee) Carney.
Visitation for Betsy will be held Thursday, October 17th from 3pm-8pm at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, 48307. A Funeral Service will occur at 11am on Friday, October 18th at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, 48307.
