Colonel Edward J. Olmeda (USAF, Retired) age 88, passed away peacefully at home in Rochester, MI on March 1, 2023. Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Moss Olmeda in 1984 and is survived by his wife, Gail J. Olmeda. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Candice Powers (Pat) and Edward Olmeda (Ann), his step-children Beth Breitenbach (the late George), Cheryl Christiana (Dan) and RJ Fuhr (Angie) and his grandchildren Lauren Olmeda Moore (Ben), Alexandra Gaitan-Flores (Michael), Thomas Olmeda, Caroline Olmeda, Daniel Christiana and Hunter Fuhr. He is also survived by his sister, Eleanor Chatfield.
Ed was born on November 1st, 1934 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and Aquinas College. Ed was awarded his Wings in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot in 1956. After a successful military aviation career he continued flying as a corporate and commercial pilot eventually retiring as a Captain on the Boeing 747. In retirement Ed and Gail loved to travel and enjoyed living many years in Port St. Lucie, FL.
A Memorial gathering will be held on Monday, March 6 at 3:00 at Blossom Ridge (3145 Lily Trail, Rochester, MI) where Ed and Gail have been residents for the last 4 years.
