Charles M. Posey

Charles Maynard Posey was born in Alma, Michigan in 1919. He lived his youth in Saginaw, Michigan and Daytona Beach, Florida. He graduated from Daytona Beach H.S. He married Ruth Renwick and settled in Rochester, Michigan. After serving his country in the Navy during WWII as an aircraft hydraulic technician at Pensacola Florida, he returned to Rochester. He worked as a mechanic and a Rochester school bus driver, and with his Can Do attitude became owner operator of Rochester’s Posey’s Isle Drive-In 1949-1959, and the historical Yates Cider Mill 1959-1975. He retired to Cheboygan, Michigan and wintered in Florida. Charles and Ruth raised a son and daughter in Rochester, Michigan. Charles loved his wife Ruth who preceded him in death; and his family, friends, and neighbors. Treasured pastimes included music, boating, socializing, reading and fix-it projects. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Rochester. He was deeply loved and appreciated by those who knew him. Charles Posey, age 94, was united with his wife and loved ones in the arms of our Lord on February 24, February 2013. He will be deeply missed. Charles is survived by his son Les Posey and wife Carol, of Navarre, FL; his daughter Bonnie Hereford and husband Thomas, of Smyrna, GA ; 6 grandchildren: Barbara Webb (Clermont, FL); Jill Connelly (Rochester, MI); Stephen Posey (Oakland Twp., MI); Lesley Huckaby (Erie, PA); Katie Titus (Rochester, MI); and Jodi Luppino (Hammondsport, NY) and 15 great grandchildren: Nathan, Erica, and Jared Titus; Chloe, Willow, Zak, and Macy Connelly; Jake, Connor, and Paige Posey; Casey and Lyndsay Webb; Patrick and Bonnie Huckaby; Raegan Luppino. Funeral Service Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Pixley Funeral Home 322 W. University Dr., Rochester; Pastor Scott Kigar presiding; visitation Wednesday 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
