Charles Doane Pearson, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on December 23, 2021 at the age of 85.
Charles was born to Gustav and Ella Bernice (Doane) Pearson in Detroit, Michigan on May 22, 1936. He was raised in Dearborn, Michigan, spending many of his childhood summers on his grandfather’s dairy farm in Corunna, Michigan. He attended Dearborn High School where he played on the varsity tennis team and became an Eagle Scout, he graduated in June 1954. After high school, Charles attended the University of Michigan (U of M) and was an active member of Chi Phi Fraternity. He graduated from U of M in August 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and earned an ROTC commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Lieutenant Pearson was stationed in Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. After three years of military service, Charles continued his career in aeronautical engineering, working for Ling-Temco Vought (LTV) Company located in Michigan. When LTV moved to Texas, he took a job with Ford and worked as an engineer until his retirement in 1998. Charles was an avid skier and outdoorsman who was active in the Bell Ski Club. Along with making lifelong friends at the Bell Ski Club, he also met his wife, Alice. They married on August 9, 1968 and had two children, Karen and Craig. Charles and Alice raised their family first in Troy and then Rochester Hills. Charles and Alice were married for over 53 years until her death earlier this year. Charles Pearson will always be remembered for his love and dedication to his family and friends. He worked hard to provide for his family and ensured his children had the opportunities to succeed. He will be missed every day.
Charles is survived by his loving children, Karen (Matthew Wright) Pearson and Craig Pearson; grandchildren Calder and Lark Wright.
