I will always remember the many hours spent with Ray as an amateur boxing official for soldiers. Ray, the time seems short that we first met in Giessen, Germany, Sports was our  connection, the memories learned and the things you  taught me over the years I truly appreciate it. But nothing compares to the way you treated people always with respect, honor, and thoughtfulness. It does not seem real that you are gone, but non the less not forgotten. I remember when he sent me this. The excitement was detected..

After the many trips to thee airport for his trip back to Germany. This drop off was a difficult one. Dad's services had wrapped up the day prior. Now my big brother was heading home.. life

The 25 minute solo airport drop-offs had a tendency to seem like hours.

Applying his military skills to research "Pop's" decoration & medals paperwork. Positive outcome!

Needed his "Bell'Agio Chianti" wine for a "Big and Little Bro" porch kinda evening on 25th.

I will always have great memories of Ray. He was my soccer coach when I was stationed in Germany. Ray put a bunch of soccer-loving soldiers together and sprinkled a few civilians in the mix, and we had a great season. I grew up in a home and environment where sports were very limited. Ray provided that opportunity to me and others to play a sport we enjoyed. I now coach youth soccer, and Ray had a great deal to do with this. I always wondered how he was. When I re-connected a few years ago with fellow brothers who were stationed in Friedberg, I asked about him, and my buddy said that he was still at the gym. I'll never forget Ray. Thank you for all you did for us while we were in. May you rest in peace, and my condolences to your familia.

The best Noncommissioned Officer I ever served with.  Taught me that standards were unwaivering and being the best was not an option.  When I was selected to be CSM of 1/7 Cav in 2012, the first invite sent out for my COR was to Ray Rivera.
