William “Bill” Stanford Luckett, a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, 77, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer, at St. Dominic Hospital on Friday, January 20, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family. Bill’s 18-year fight with cancer was remarkable and was buoyed by his tremendous faith in Christ and love and loyalty to his family and church.
Bill was born on June 1, 1939 in Madison County, Mississippi, to the late Sallie H. Luckett and Patrick H. Luckett. Bill grew up in Madison County and following graduation from Farmhaven School, attended Holmes Junior College and graduated from Mississippi State University. Following his graduation from Mississippi State, Bill worked as a certified public accountant. He retired in 1992 as a partner at KPMG Peat Marwick accounting firm. He later worked as a consultant for Jeff Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. He served on the Parish Council of St. Richard Church and Board of Trustees of St. Richard Elementary School.
Bill enjoyed bird hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and church members from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Henry and Sallie Hayes Luckett, his siblings, Charles H. Luckett, Pat H. Luckett, Jr., Gus G. Luckett, Harriette Luckett Kee. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sarah McIntyre Luckett, his son William “Will” S. Luckett, Jr and daughter-in-law Anna Erickson, his daughter Amy Elizabeth Luckett, his daughter, Laura Luckett Spencer and his son-in-law William “Bill” C. Spencer, Jr.
Bill is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Luckett, Sarah Luckett Gorrell and Peggy Luckett Burwell, his eight loving grandchildren, Owen and Julia Luckett, Sam and Walker Francese, Zach Clifton and Reid, Parker and Jack Spencer.
Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Sunday, January 22, 2017, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM, followed by a Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 23, 2017.
