One year ago Bob left us. Way too soon. I still think of him often and the high regard I had of him, his wit, his intelligence, and the good times we shared. There is a fragility to life that we often neglect. Live with purpose and serve and glorify God. See you in Heaven buddy.

I remember Bob being a great trumpet player in the WWHS band. He was a inspiration for others to follow. 

I remember Bob leading the trumpet section of the WWHS Band. I could see his natural leadership qualities leading the trumpet section of the band, playing a beautiful solo during a performance of a popular band composition. My condolences to his family and friends for their great loss. I know he will be missed.

Bob and I grew up together at the Beasley center spending many hours  playing baseball, basketball, and swimming in the pool. We went to high school and shared a lot of good times.  We touched base again a few years ago on Facebook after a long time of not seeing or hearing from each other.  Keeping his family in my prayers. Rest in peace,  my friend.

    I am so sorry for the loss of your precious husband. He was a good friend to my late husband Dennis.  I can remember all of the great stories that Dennis would tell when they used to meet with the guys at Soulshine Pizza.  His friendship with Dennis meant so much! Those guys could tell some stories!!! I also had the pleasure of being around Bob a few times and he definitely could light up a room with his big smile and witty humor…please know that I will continue to lift you and your precious family up in my prayers…I can just imagine what they are telling each other now!🙏

Dear loved ones of Bob Dowd,
     My husband and I were great friends with Lucy and Bob Dowd at Edgewood Terrace Apartments in the early 1970’s.  We all were newly weds at the time.  We had great fun sitting by the pool and got to know them well.  Bob worked for Lincoln National Insurance Company at that time.  Every time I hear a John Denver song,  I think of Bob.  He was a swell guy!  Thinking of all of you as you celebrate his life on June 10th.  May God keep him in his care until we all meet again.

Bob, you were the best brother-in-law a girl could ever have. I was so lucky to have had you in my life. We just adored you.  Thank you for loving my sister and my mother and us all. I will think of you every day for the rest of my life. Till we all meet again. RIP Bob

Gina, Mary Kay just told me about Bob’s death. He fought long and hard and was most assuredly comforted by your care and love through the years. Hopefully, memories of happier days will ease your grief. We are out of town all month but will be thinking of you and the fun times we had with you and the Southers.

Great guy and high school friend at WWHS.  In the band together, golf, tennis, basketball and always looking for a better hamburger.  He was the person everyone who was blessed to know him will always have a special place for in their fond memories of days gone by.

I met bob on the baseball diamond at East Carolina. We were both pitchers at Woodrow Wilson high school. Me in Washington DC and Bob from Portsmouth Virginia. 
I introduced Bob to theta chi and we became fraternity brothers. We were not close in college but became so as an alumnae chapter began to take shape. 
We would touch base through various forums always centered around sports (mostly baseball).  He wa a unique guy and I’ll miss our dialogue.

I am a Theta Chi brother at East Carolina, class of 1969. I spent the summer of 1967
in Nantucket  with Bob and have so many special memories of that time.  Bob was a kind and special man.  My condolences  to his family.
