Ricky Ray Ross, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born March 5, 1951, and passed away on May 20, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sibyl Boyd Ross, his brothers, Lewis and Ferris, and his sons, Shannon (Mandy) and Kevin (Betsy). Rick is also survived by his three grandchildren, Savannah, Ellie, Patrick, and three great-grandchildren, Scottie, Cooper, and Waylon. Rick was the eldest of three sons born to Elson Ray Ross and Betty Brumfield Ross in Tylertown, Mississippi.
Rick’s passion was his family, which was shown in all aspects of his life. Whether he was cooking, hunting, fishing, watching football, or enjoying a meal, Rick’s joy came from being with and providing for his family.
Rick’s love and passion extended to his students as was evident in his career. His years in public education encompass his life’s work. His teaching career began in the early 70s as a physical education teacher and football coach. The latter part of his career was spent in school administration in the Madison County School District where he touched the lives of thousands of students.
Rick was a member of St. Columbs Episcopal Church in Ridgeland Mississippi.
