On April 11, 2022, Mary Alice Dear passed from this world into the arms of her dear Savior after complications from a fall while doing design work she loved. She was born February 28, 1988, in Jackson, Mississippi. Mary Alice was endlessly creative and a jack-of-all-trades, but her first love was interior design. She was very generous and loved giving gifts to those she loved. Her unique gift of intuition made her an extremely compassionate person towards others who needed love, and she gave it freely. She served proudly on the board of the Oxford House in Biloxi, MS, where she ministered with her time and gifts.
While Mary Alice has struggled at times in her life, the last few years she has rewritten her story into one of beautiful redemption and hope. At the time of her death, she was thriving in her work with interior decorating in Ocean Springs, MS, working passionately and tirelessly to create beautiful homes for her clients. She would often travel back and forth to Madison, MS, to visit family and spend time with her niece and nephew who absolutely adored their Aunt Alice. She always made space for them and adored them right back.
Mary Alice, often called "MA" by those who knew her well, will be desperately missed. She played an important role in her family, maintaining relationships with her late grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, siblings and 10 cousins she grew up closely with. Family meant a lot to her, and it will not be the same without her here. We are so proud of her and love her forever.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by Alice and Lee Dear and Paul and Mary Jane Henley. She is survived by Glen and Nan Dear, Betsy (Chandler), Henley and Pike Nicholson, Jameson Dear, Jim and Kathy Henley, Janie and Arthur Davis, Holly and Danny Story, Susan and Phil Hinton, Dale Dear, Ava and Harrison Dear, Mary Jane (Greg), Grey, Davis, Withers and Henley Meyer, Sarah (Chris) Ragland, Arthur (Christine) and Archie Davis, JP Henley, Emily (Grant) and Jane Saxton, Maye (Aaron) Henley, Janie (Lauren) Story, Paul (Maren Garvey) Davis, Maryanna Story, and Lauren (Jerry), Kierstyn and Hinton McDaniel and her beloved dog, Lily.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 14th, at First Baptist Church in Madison from 10:30-12:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon, also Thursday at First Baptist Madison.
