Born on April 12, 1957, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Karen attended Wooddale High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was an outstanding student and athlete, lettering in track and field, volleyball, and basketball. She later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, was a member of the Alpha Omicron Phi and Kappa Epsilon (pharmacy) sororities and participated in the Ole Miss Parade of Beauties. It was at Ole Miss Pharmacy School that she met Jim Still of Jackson, Mississippi, whom she would later marry and with whom she would spend the next 42 years. They have two sons, Jim Still, Jr. and Jonathan Still, Sr.
Karen spent the early part of her career as a pharmacist at Doctor’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, and River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Mississippi. She then started her own business, Professional Pharmacy Consultants, where for over 32 years she provided pharmaceutical consulting to long-term care facilities throughout Mississippi.
Karen was an avid gardener, developing a passion for roses. She enjoyed murder mysteries and snuggling up to her dogs, Mickey, Hatter, Gus, Taylor, Buster, and Bella – all of which were boxers. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. But her true passion was spending time with her sons and grandchildren, for whom she would do anything.
