She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, J.W. Roberts, and sisters, Inez Starkey and Roberta Barnes, her son-in-law, W.T. West, and her husband of 43 years, Atley Davis, Sr. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Davis Oglesbee (Dan), Atley Davis, Jr. (Tina), and Peggy West. She was grandmother to Todd Davis, Jennifer Williams, Amy Page, Paige Almazan, and Jason West, as well as 10 great grandchildren. Helen is also survived by siblings, Etoile Brown, Kathryn Matranga, Sue Wilson, and Mims Roberts, Jr.
Helen graduated from Gilfoy School of Nursing in 1943. She was very proud that she was the RN that accompanied the doctor to meet a place carrying the first penicillin to Mississippi.
Services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2:30 pm with visitation from 1:30 to 2:30 pm and burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Baptist Medical Center for their special care. Helen lived for over 10 years at Brookdale Assisted Living Home and cherished her life and friends there.
