Mrs. Campbell, age 92 and a long-time resident of the Jackson, Mississippi metro area, was the widow of Jackson businessman, Bryan Campbell, an owner and founder of Adcock & Campbell, Inc., now AdCamp, Inc. Mrs. Campbell, born on March 16, 1921 in Augusta, Arkansas, was the daughter of William Earl Benton and Georgia Alma Headen Benton and the younger sister of Edward Earl Benton.
Lucille's childhood and early adult life was spent in Kosciusko, Mississippi, where her father was manager/operator of one of the early industries in that area, the Kosciusko Stave Mill. She was educated in the Kosciusko schools, married her
husband, and started their family in that area.
She was a devoted wife of 66 years to Bryan and loving mother to James Benton Campbell of Longview, Texas, and Linda Campbell McGuire of Brandon, Mississippi. While most of her life was spent being a housewife, she was instrumental in setting up and working in the office of Adcock & Campbell for several years.
Lucille was happiest being with her family, cooking and preparing meals, and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional cook, known for her holiday meals and her lemon meringue and chocolate pies. She and her late
husband Bryan were devoted fans of the Manning football family, and both were usually in the stadium whenever Archie played. Her son-in-law later converted her to being a NASCAR fan, and he was instrumental in her becoming a Jeff Gordon fan.
Preceding Mrs. Campbell in death were her parents, her brother, and her beloved husband. Mourning her death are her children: James Benton Campbell and wife Georgette, and Linda Campbell McGuire and husband David. Grandchildren
include: John Bryan Campbell of Katy, Texas; Katie Campbell Pyle and husband Morgan of Katy, Texas; Connie Campbell Gadt and husband Paul of Longview, Texas; and James Benton Campbell, Jr. of Colorado. Her great grandchildren are
Carmen Gadt of Longview, Texas, Casey Campbell of Meridian, Mississippi, and Devon Campbell of Colorado. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Kay Casareo of Las Vegas, Danny Spencer of Colorado, Robert E. Campbell of Canton,
Mississippi, and Patricia Duplichain of Richland, Mississippi. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Georgia Campbell of Brandon, friends, and her church family at First United Methodist Church of Ridgeland where she was a member since 1959.
Mrs. Campbell's family extends their thanks to her personal physician Dr. Robert Tompkins of Longview, and her nurses and her caregivers at Summer Meadows, Hearts Way Hospice and Dr. Sansom for their compassion and care.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 on Tuesday, December 17,2013 at Wright and Ferguson in Ridgeland with services and burial to follow at 1:30 pm.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Ridgeland or any non-profit charity of your choice.
