Annie Lou Knight of Ridgeland, MS, was born on February 17, 1924, in Rankin County, Mississippi and passed away November 8, 2022, at the age of 98, after suffering from Alzheimer’s for many years. A child of the great depression, Annie Lou was born February 17, 1924, as one of nine brothers and sisters. Her youngest sister, L’Mere Farlow, is the only remaining survivor.
During WWII she attended nursing school, graduating to become a registered nurse. Practicing at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, then in Greenwood, Mississippi and finally back at Baptist Hospital. She retired after the birth of her second son in 1960, to raise her children. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James P. Knight, Jr., in 2009. She is survived by two sons, James T. Knight and wife Anne, of Ridgeland, and Paul F. Knight of Ridgeland; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Knight Moore and husband Beau of Oxford, and David J. Knight of Meridian. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Taylor E. Byars and Emily C. Byars of Oxford.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS.
