Elizabeth Ann White Caves, 85, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away on December 2, 2024. Ann was born in the Hope Community of Neshoba County. She attended East Central Community College before graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She continued her education at Mississippi State University, earning a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Ann married her husband Roy in 1960, and they settled in the Jackson metro area with their daughter, Bronwyn, shortly thereafter.
Ann served faithfully as a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church throughout her time in Madison. She spent many years as a teacher, working in the preschool at Broadmoor before becoming the director of Broadmoor’s kindergarten and daycare. She went on to teach first grade at Jackson Academy for 25 years, where she enjoyed helping each child reach their potential and making each child feel like they were her “favorite.”
As a mother and grandmother, Ann took great joy in putting her family before herself. She was always up for a fun-filled girls' shopping trip, a day spent in the kitchen, or a trip to the beach. Ann treasured time spent with her family and showed her love to them by making every moment special in ways big and small.
In their 64 years of marriage, Ann and her husband Roy traveled the world together, visiting all of the states in the US and numerous countries. They also enjoyed spending time together in their home state of Mississippi, relaxing on the porch at their Neshoba County Fair cabin and attending Mississippi State University sporting events, especially baseball. No matter where they went, as long as they were together, they were happy.
Always a gracious hostess, Ann enjoyed feeding family and friends as a way to show love to others. She wanted everyone she talked to or visited with to feel special, and she was always pointing others to Christ.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Maedell White. She is survived by her husband, Roy Caves, her daughter, Bronwyn Burford (Chris), her granddaughters, Elizabeth Weddle (Andrew) and Catherine Burford, her sister, Evelyn Perry (Don), and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 12:30 followed by interment at Parkway Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Broadmoor Baptist Church (Missions), Jackson Academy, or Hope Baptist Church, Philadelphia MS.
