TAYLOR, Robert S. Jr. Bob Taylor died in Richmond, VA on April 8th, 2015. He was born in Semora, NC to Bessie and Stickney Taylor on November 5th, 1935. Family & friends will remember how he touched their lives in many ways. Survivors include his devoted wife of 55 years, Barbara Britt Taylor; his special twin sons, Robert Brian Taylor (Wanda) and Jeffrey Scott Taylor (Linda) and three grandchildren: Katherine Britt, twins Hannah Grace and Eric Cullen Taylor; a beloved brother, John William Taylor (Carolyn) and two devoted nieces, Dr. Claire T. West (Jason) and Dr. Molly T. Poleskey (Steve). Bob met his wife, Barbara, at East Carolina University, where he was a charter member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, creating many close friends that have lasted over 60 years. He was also the first ECU Pirate mascot at football games. Bob was drafted into the Army in the 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Ft. Campbell KY, where he made 19 “night jumps” (eyes shut tight), returning to finish his ECU degree in Business Administration, and to marry Barbara. His advertising career began at Richmond Newspapers in the classified dept, then moving to advertising. After five years, he was recruited by Goldberg-Tiller Corp to support the addition of RCA and Whirlpool. For 30 years he ran the Goldberg-owned advertising agency, Ideas Inc, later becoming “Ideas INK”. With support from long-term colleagues, Bob finally went into business for himself under the name AdVisions, with Curtis Mathes & other accounts. He was a true advocate for the people who worked for him, & his keen sense of humor, zest for life & love of his family will be greatly missed. Among his love of the land was a parcel on Lake Hyco NC (“Lake Taylor” as guests called it), a 40-year family & friends gathering spot near his mother’s farm. The family wishes to thank Home Health & Hospice, who helped Bob toward his next great adventure. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Church of Christ, 9500 Three Chopt Road at 1:00pm on Saturday April 11th, with Eddie Hendrix officiating. The ceremony will continue at a later time at Lake Hyco NC where his ashes will be scattered. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity will be appreciated.
