Robert Shaw Stanford, Jr., 95, of Richmond, was born on February 16, 1929, and passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024.
He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of WW II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed being with his family, outdoor activities and playing softball. He was active in Habitat For Humanity, MCEF and various church charities as a long time follower of the Presbyterian faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Hall Stanford and is survived by his children, Joan E. Stanford, Roberta Tavenner (David) and Robert Stanford III (Liz); grandchildren, Alan (Julie), Russell (Marlena), Bradley (Josephine), Derek, Devin (Lindsey), Shannon (Mike) and Shaw (Danielle); great-grandchildren, Judah, Declan, Jaxton, Lucas, Cillian, Emma, Willie, Masyn, Nolan, Hazel, Kayo, Kloe, Karleigh and Beau.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231 where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
