She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Annie Mae Hicks; brother, James Hicks; and her husband of 62 years, William L. Madison, Jr.
Joyce worked as a secretary and was a member of Leigh Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, Nascar and was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Frances Higgins (Jimmy), Cynthia Cope (Tim), William L. Madison, III (Teresa), and Michele Ford; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Romaine (Vicki); and devoted dog, Puggy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 with a service to immediately follow at 12 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.nelsenrichmond.com.
