John Matt Bingham

BINGHAM, John Matt, age 74, of Goochland, Virginia, departed from this life on February 11, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Vivian Howard Bingham of Goochland; and his five devoted daughters, Kathy Bingham Adkins (Jeff) of Midlothian, Kristine Bingham Edwards (Brown) of Macon, Ga., Susanne Lee Bingham of Washington, D.C., Margaret Bingham Holder (David) of Wake Forest, N.C., and Jennifer Bingham Nutter (Brandon) of Chesterfield. He is also survived by six granddaughters, three grandsons, as well as five great-grandchildren.

John began his career in the United States Navy. After an honorable discharge, he was graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1962. He worked as a CPA with Ernst & Ernst and then went on to work for Richmond Surgical in 1967. He was Chief Executive Officer at General Medical, Chief Operating Officer at Healthcare Ventures Corporation, and then owned his own business, Starline Associates, until he retired in 2001. An avid golfer, John was a long standing member of the Richmond community and had been an active member of Hermitage Country Club for over forty years.

A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service, 1 to 2 p.m. Interment private. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinsons Foundation, 1501 Farm Credit Dr., McLean, Va.
