Nécrologie de Jacob Corey Hughes
Jacob Corey Hughes, 32, son of Ron and Karen Hughes, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2023. In addition to his parents, Jake is survived by his brother, Jesse (Claire); grandmothers, Elaine Daniel, Margaret Morse; as well as many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins; and best friends, Kevin and Brandy Timberlake, and Paul Bell. We knew at two years old that Jake would be an outdoorsman. He was in diapers when he began fishing and kissing fish with his daddy. Jake was his happiest when on the water or in the woods. He and his dad could be found most weekends on the James or Chick, where he usually out fished his dear ole dad. When hunting season rolled around, Jake, Jesse, and dad were chasing deer at the Bog Tract. He would send the most beautiful pictures to his mom of everything he saw so that she could also be part of the fishing and hunting trips. As a teen, Jake earned his Eagle Scout and was recognized as Brotherhood Order of the Arrow. He was a member of Four Rivers 4-H Shooting Sports Club and Scholastic Clay Target Program. Jake and his team took second place in the National Championship in Sparta, Illinois. Jake was a “Momma’s Boy”. He loved his Momma like nobody else. Jake loved spending time with her driving to the mountains or walking around at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Jake loved Jesse. They were often found checking out a new brewery, ordering a flight. Brothers could not love each other more. Jake’s life was an immeasurable blessing. If you want to do anything to remember Jake, take a kid fishing. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at New Kent Christian Center, 9660 Tunstall Road, New Kent, VA 23124. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.NelsenRichmond.com for the Hughes family.
