Eugene "Bubba Gene" H. Christian, Sr.

Eugene “Bubba Gene” H. Christian, Sr. of 2721 Kingsland Road, Richmond, Virginia entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born to the late Virgie and Warren Christian on April 22, 1937. A native of New Kent County, Virginia he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lena E. Christian and siblings; Jordan, Archie, Willie, Felix, and Dora. Eugene attended George W. Watkins School. He was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Army and was a retiree of Richfood, Inc. At an early age, Eugene was baptized and joined Second Liberty Baptist Church. He was also a member of the East End Lodge #233. He loved to cook to bring the family together. He enjoyed going to the grocery store in order to get the “Deal of the Day”. He also loved to look for the next casino trip. Eugene was deeply loved and cared for by his family. He is survived and left to cherish his memories are his children, Eugene Christian, Jr., Tammy Branch (Greg), Tina Goodwyn and Jeffery Christian; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Marian C. Allen, Annie Christian, and Zelma C. Tune all of Quinton, VA; three sisters-in-law, Christine Christian, Shirley Christian and Ann Robinson all of Richmond, VA; one brother-in-law, Warren DePriest; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a very special friend Mable Cayruth. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23231. Masks are required and please remember to social distance. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Drive, Sandston, Virginia 23150.
