Edwin "Pookie" Bruce Jr., 82, of Sandston, VA went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. He retired from Local 10 Plumbers & Steamfitters. He served our country as a member of the US Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Flossie Bruce; his children, Theresa Burton and Areina Hensley; sons-in-law, Keith and Jeff; brother, Noel Bruce and his wife, Linda; grandchildren, Travis and Brett Burton, Jordan and Chad Hensley and great-granddaughter, Lucy Burton. He was a member of Sandston Baptist Church, Sandston Masonic Lodge 216 and the Richmond Infantry Blues. Pookie also loved his dog, Sir Robert the Bruce. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. (Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m.) at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Sandston Baptist Church, 100 West Williamsburg Road, Sandston, VA 23150 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
