DAVIS, Dorothy Elaine Calfee, died on May 17, 2014, at The Hermitage at Cedarfield. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Carle E. Davis. Born on December 3, 1921, to Helen and Price H. Calfee, in West Palm Beach, Fla., she lived her younger years in Beckley, W.Va., until she graduated from Concord College in Athens, W.Va. Living most of her life in Richmond, Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Linda Roane (Mike) of Kent's Store, Va., Sandy King (Tommy) of Richmond and Jane Payne (Dick) of Chester, N.J.; and seven grandchildren, Missy Reynolds (Ralph), Amy Galvin (Rich), Michael Roane (Megan), Sandra Andrews (Cliff), Talley King, Blair Pack (Ron) and Tyler Payne. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a charter member of The Chapel Guild of the University of Richmond, The Country Club of Virginia, Second Baptist Church and a former member of the Woman's Club. Affectionately called "Gran" by her grandchildren, Dorothy was a wonderfully devoted mother and grandmother, whose favorite times were spent with family. She passionately loved Bridge with friends, reading and as her family fondly remembers, "Tory Burch" shoes and "Happy Hour." She will always be remembered for her cheerfulness and optimism and generosity to all those around her. Her family is most appreciative of the loving care she received by the kind and devoted staff at Cedarfield and also in the Critical Care Unit at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carle E. Davis Law Scholarship of The University of Richmond, 28 Westhampton Way, Richmond, Va. 23173 or Second Baptist Church, 9614 River Road, Richmond, Va. 23229.
