David John Wilson Sr.

David John Wilson, Sr. “Coach” 67, of Richmond, VA. went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born May 12, 1945 in Montclair, New Jersey. Dave was a graduate of the University of Richmond, and taught physical education for Henrico for 31 years. Dave also managed the TVRA swim club for 25 years. Currently, he was a personal trainer at American Family Fitness Short Pump. For many years, Dave competed in body building where he won many titles and awards.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Lair and Annamay Miller Wilson, father in law Claude William Ellis, and brother in law James Whitton Milne, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of Linda Ellis Wilson, his sons and spouses; David Jr. (Leah) of Rockville, Md. And Roderick L. (Stacy) of Richmond, VA. step children and spouses; Amy R. Justice (Lt. Michael E.) of Newport News, VA. Charles A. Ellis (Amber) of Richmond, VA, Christopher A. Thompson, Richmond, VA and CW-02 B. Tyler Thompson of Williamsburg, VA. His sister and spouse, Janet (Wayne) Rankin of Willow Grove. PA. also surviving are his loving grandchildren; Rachel and Sarah Justice, Camden, Ella, Molly, and Kalli Wilson. Also survived by his mother in law Ruth C. Ellis of Rocky Mount, VA. sister in law Sandra E. Milne of Roanoke, VA, brother in law and spouse Harold (Marion) Ellis of Penhook, VA, several nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.

A celebration of Dave’s amazing life will be held at 7:00pm Wednesday January 16, 2013 at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA, 23229.
