WHITE, Charles Allen, 79, of Sandston, went to be with our Lord, surrounded by his loved ones on November 4, 2018. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Joyce (Hester) White; daughters, Teresa White and Kimberly (White) Geremia and her husband, David; and grandchildren, Delilah and Michael Allen Geremia of Connecticut; sisters, Rose (White) Hamilton and Bertha (Hoggard) Hill; sisters-in-law, Janie White and Linda Hester; brothers-in-law, Marvin Hester and Norman Hester; and many adored nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents, Grover Cleveland White Sr. and Irene (Walton) (White) Hoggard; his in-laws, George and Lila (Marvin) Hester; his brothers, Rossie (Norma), Paul (Vernell), Herbert, Thomas, Bernard (Mary); as well as half-siblings; sister-in-law, Roseann (Tatum) Hester; and brother-in-law, Robert Hamilton; and his best buddy, Rocky. Mr. White was honorably discharged as a member of the Virginia Army National Guard. He was a graduate of John Marshall and VCU. He attained his degree while working at Wonder Bread. He taught history and driver's education at Louisa and Armstrong High Schools. He coached basketball, baseball, and was an assistant coach for the 1972 City Champions football team. He left education to own and operate a trucking company and later followed that with other self-employed endeavors. He was baptized and a member of the Fairmount Christian Church. He loved music, he sang, played the guitar and banjo. He enjoyed family, food, fishing and sports. He was an award-winning bowler, a card shark, working with his hands and helping others. In his last years, he was lovingly cared for by his devoted wife and daughter. Services will be held Saturday, November 10, at 12 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231.
