Remembering the Life of Pamela Lorraine Moore-Gaines

On December 8, 1957, the union of the late Clarence Hendrix Moore and Dorothy Mae Moore was blessed with the birth of Pamela Lorraine Moore. Pamela, also known as Pam, was a loving and giving person throughout her life. She lost her own mother to heart disease at the age of fourteen and was often guided in life by her affectionate memory of the love and care she witnessed between her mother and father. Pam fashioned herself as daddy’s baby girl.

At an early age, Pam gave her life to the Lord by accepting him as her Lord and Savior. Growing up across the street from San Pablo Park she was involved in basketball, baseball, tennis, arts and crafts, and hanging out with friends in the neighborhood. At home she enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, singing, talent shows, plays in the backyard, and arguing with her sisters. Pam’s life significantly changed and blossomed when she gave birth to her one and only son, Shante’ Tariq Holloway. She loved him with her whole heart and was a fierce advocate for his success from pre-school to adulthood and beyond.

In 1989, Pamela married the love of her life, Charles Gaines, and together they raised her son Tariq. She truly enjoyed her family life with Charles, Tariq, and their beautiful, lovely home in Antioch, CA. Pam found pleasure in gardening, landscaping, business, finance, politics, parties, concerts, cooking, barbequing, raising a family, supporting family, and coordinating family socials, get togethers, reunions, sleep overs, and more. She was the loving sister of four older sisters and graduated from Berkeley High School. She went to San Francisco State University and continued to further her education and obtained a master’s degree in Psychology.

When her son Tariq found his true love Nicole Middleton, Pamela dreamed of her grandchildren before they were born. Pam’s prayers were answered when Tariq married Nicole. Not only was she blessed with one adorable granddaughter, Ameerah, three years later came, Ariana, her second bundle of joy. Her granddaughters brought her pure happiness, brighten her life, and were her best medicine. She was their MANNA.

Pam lived a life dedicated to the principles of service to the lord by demonstrating a commitment to aiding and serving her community and family. Pam worked in the medical field, she also worked as a counselor to troubled teens, and as a counselor at STAND! Against Domestic Violence where she committed her time and resources to facilitating and uniting men with their families. Pam proudly showed her commitment to others by serving as a Social Worker III with Alameda County where she served our community until her retirement. Pam used her talents personally and professionally to help innumerable people grow through her kindness, empathy, and generosity. When she set her mind to something it was accomplished. Pam’s favorite saying is “I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES.”

Pam departed us on December 9, 2022, and was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Moore and her father Clarence Moore.

She leaves to mourn her dedicated husband Charles Gaines, son Shante’ Tariq Holloway, daughter-in-law Nicole Holloway, two beautiful granddaughters Ameerah and Ariana. Four sisters: Sandra Milton (Rubin), Debra Williams (Peter), Tumani Leatherwood (Felix), and Valerie Moore; raised as baby sister, Erika O’Quinn; one brother-in-law, Ralph Gaines (Belinda) and sister-in-law Bernadette Gaines and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.

Pam, you are loved and will truly be missed. May God bless you.

A public viewing for Pamela will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Fuller Funerals, Inc, 3100 Cutting Blvd, Richmond, CA. A celebration of her life will occur Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Fuller Funerals, Inc.
