He graduated from Georgetown High School and enrolled at the University of Texas, Austin, where he received his degree as a Mechanical Engineer. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lt. stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland where he was an instructor in the armory. Upon discharge, he was employed at DuPont de Nemours, Inc. out of Wilmington, Delaware, and was a south coast regional supervisor in the area of refrigeration from Florida to the southwest coast of Texas. After retiring from DuPont, he was recruited by the Miter Corporation in Washington D.C. to sit on the government’s side of the table to review major contracts and was later transferred to their Miter Tech Division where he was responsible for the storage and disposal of chemical and nuclear weaponry. He wrote the manual which is still in use today.
He is predeceased by his son, Keith George Anderson, and his parents, Capt. William Witt Anderson III and Virginia Green Anderson, his brother, William Witt Anderson IV, brother Brent Williams Anderson, and sister Virginia “Jenkie” Lea Anderson Sivells.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Mize Anderson, his daughter Ruthellen Anderson Gruber, husband Paul, and children Anthony David, Ellen Grace, and Keith Paul Gruber; daughter Jennifer Lea Anderson Kersh and husband Howard. He was a lifelong Baptist, preceded by generations of missionaries to Africa and China. He was a member of the Fellowship Class at First Baptist Church, Richardson, TX, where he led the singing and also used his beautifully trained tenor voice to sing in the “Goldenaires”, under the leadership of Gerald Ware, for many years, traveling with the choir over much of the U.S., performing at many locales. He joined the heavenly choir on December 3, 2023, at age 88.
He and Joyce lived a fairy tale life – square dancing, line dancing,
round dancing, clogging, camping all across the nation, traveling abroad many times, and his truest love – motorcycling.
He was a devoted Christian, a steadfast husband, a loving and giving father, an anointed Deacon, a Bible Teacher, and a musician, respected and admired by all who knew him. He has left a vacancy that can never be filled - until we meet again.
