Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Bridget, and
brother, Patrick Lunning.
Matthew was the youngest of five children to proud parents Dennis and Bridget. He grew up
surrounded by a close-knit and loving family. From an early age, Matthew's zest for life shone
brightly. He was an active child, he loved riding his bike, skateboarding, and playing sports.
Family vacations to Ocean Shores were a cherished tradition, creating lifelong memories that he
carried into adulthood.
Matthew was a proud graduate of O'Dea High School and later earned his degree from the
University of Washington Tacoma. Matt loved playing football for Odea’ with his brother
Michael. And he really loved winning a state championship. Football, basketball, baseball – he
loved any sport with a ball. Matt enjoyed riding his quad, he had a bit of a fearless side. Matt did
not back down from hard work. Whatever Matt loved, he loved with his whole heart. The most
important aspect of Matthew’s life was his family.
At 14, Matthew met his soul mate, Shy Bundy, and they were inseparable from that moment on.
Their love grew through high school, college, and eventually into marriage. They were each
other’s best friend. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Grayson and Shayla, who were
the light of Matthew’s life. A natural father, Matthew embraced every aspect of parenting, from
diaper changes to bedtime stories. Grayson and Shayla were his pride and joy, and as a family,
they shared countless adventures and memories. They enjoyed traveling to their favorite places,
camping, playing video games with Grayson and letting Shayla do his hair with bows. He might
not have loved family game night, but he always played. Matt was a great father.
Matthew also shared a special bond with his in-laws, Dale and Dorlynn Bundy. His love of
camping was spent with his brother-in-law, Bummer, and sister-in-law, Carrie, traveling to the
sand dunes and riding quads.
Matthew’s family and friends will forever cherish the deep love he shared with them. His spirit
lives on in his children, Grayson and Shayla. Though life will never be the same without him, we
take solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved mother, Bridget, in heaven.
