At the age of three the family moved to Sego, Utah, a coal mining town. She lived there until her senior year in high school when she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduation, she worked for a wholesale jewelry store, then continued her life, becoming a Western Airlines stewardess up to the time she got married. In June 1956, she married Robert J. Ditsworth and they cherished each other for 48 years until Robert passed in 2004. The couple had four children: Dr. David & Irina (Bogacheva) Ditsworth, Gwen & Edward Korfus, Brian & Gretchen (Montgomery) Ditsworth and Howard & Maren (Mills) Ditsworth.
Lorraine was an active and caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister. She enjoyed getting together for family reunions, fishing in Alaska, and traveling the world. Lorraine was an extremely talented artist and teacher. In 1970, she decided that she needed to get out of the house a couple days a week. She first tried her hand at oil painting, but then in 1972 China painting captured her fancy. She traveled the world teaching, and was actively involved in many porcelain artist organizations.
She loved being involved with Order of the Eastern Star, visiting with the ladies, and volunteering her time in all the events.
She loved spending time with her children and, grandchildren: Dr. Dara Ditsworth, Dr. Dahlia Ditsworth, Tom Korfus, Justin Korfus, Tony Ditsworth, Scott Ditsworth, Rupert Ditsworth, Danaya Ditsworth, Gregory Geer, Richard Ditsworth, and her great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Maddie, Heidi, Austin, Oliver, Eve, Beatrice, and Dylan.
Lorraine was predeceased by her sister, Doris Retzlaff, and two brothers-in-law; Carl Retzlaff and Newell Dalton. She is survived by her sister, Betty Dalton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the Greenwood Funeral Home located at 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA. A reception will follow.
