Laura was born November 18, 1950 in Coshocton, Ohio to James Jacob and Myrtle Irene (Smith) Geese. She grew up in Little Washington, Ohio and was an active member of the local congregational church. Her fondness for learning was highlighted by the enjoyment she took in reading encyclopedias. In her spare time, she would sell duck eggs and cherries that she had harvested to earn spending money. In high school, she played saxophone in her high school marching band. Laura loved pets and had several of her own, including a dog named Blounjour and a curious duck named Peepers, who liked to go sledding.
While attending the University of Cincinnati, where she earned degrees in Math and Electrical Engineering, Laura (also nicknamed “LB”) met and married Dennis C. Krinke. Together, they moved to Wichita, Kansas before settling in the Seattle area, where they raised three children, with Laura jokingly claiming the title of “home engineer”.
Laura was generous with her time, actively participating in parent-teacher associations and teaching accelerated math to sixth graders. She was an avid basketball fan and cheered on the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Wichita Shockers, and the Washington Huskies. Laura enjoyed camping with her family across the western United States and Canada. She also delighted friends and family with numerous reverse-engineered recipes, including her famous Amish-style salad dressing, calico bean stew, hearty meatloaf, and smoky beef jerky. Many of these recipes were compiled into family recipe binders that are prized by family members who continue to use them today.
Laura is survived by her husband Dennis Krinke; three sons, Adam, Jared, and Todd Krinke; three grandchildren, Alex, Austin, and Emberly Krinke; and two sisters, Janet Cross and Susan Lavergne.
