Juliana Pascual Wong

Juliana was born in Palistina, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on February 16, 1931 into a large ten-person family with eight siblings and parents, Antonio Pascual and Timotea Dimalanta. She finished grade school and high school in the same city, later pursuing her college education at Far Eastern University in Manila. There, she met her husband, Marcelo Wong. They married on January 24, 1951 and remained happily married until Marcelo’s death on February 28, 2019 after battling a lengthy illness.

She was a devoted mother, always ready to sacrifice for her children. She was selfless, taking on odd jobs to provide for her growing family. She was married at a young age, but she never gave up on her dream to be a teacher. Eventually, she became a public-school 6th grade teacher in Makati City, where she eventually retired. With her perseverance and Marcelo’s unfailing support, the couple was able to send their children to college, which enabled them to build successful and fulfilling lives as adults. Juliana worked as a teacher, entrepreneur, hair stylist and still fulfilled her duties as a devoted wife and mother to her four children.

After years of consideration, Marcelo and Juliana decided to migrate to the United States, settling in both Daly City, California and eventually investing in a home in San Francisco, California. She missed teaching immensely and decided to work at Early Learning Center, giving young children a healthy foundation for education, where she eventually retired for good.

Juliana was an active and faithful member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, where she served as a deaconess for over 30 years. She is survived by her 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, her sister Gaudencia and brother Ernesto.

Julie Wong, as she was fondly called by her friends and loved ones, will not be forgotten. Those of us fortunate enough to have experienced the love and care you bestowed will hold you dear eternally. Wherever a beautiful love has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. We hold many and will cherish them all for generations to come.

There are those who bring a light to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.
