Our father Inspector Frederick K. Riffey Jr Retired had passed away last Thursday October 25th at 3:47 pm at age 76 from complications with lung cancer. Sunday night October 21st was the first time that he was diagnosed with lung cancer but it had quickly spread through his whole body within hours. He may have this cancer for years but it had never showed up on any test until that Sunday. The test also showed that Fred had a heart attach caused by the lung cancer several days before. He is Survived by his four children (Debbie, Linda, Kinnon and Erin) 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and a 4th great grandchild on the way.
The services for Fred Riffey will be held on Saturday November 3rd at 1:30 pm at the Greenwood Memorial Park & Funeral Home 350 Monroe Ave NE Renton, WA 98056. This was the same place where his wife Sharron had her funeral service... The children of Fred would be honored to see you there.
Frederick Kinnon Riffey Jr was born in San Diego, California January 11th , 1936 to Dorothy and Fred Riffey Sr. Fred Jr also had an older sister named Darlene who had also passed away this year.
Fred married Sharron Souttere (August 8th, 1936 to February 13th, 2004) on February 6th 1955. They had four children named Debbie, Linda, Kinnon and Erin. They had 10 grandchildren named Heather, Rebecca, Justin, Garrett, Christopher, Frederick, Elizabeth, Tiffany, Timothy and Katie. Fred and Sharron also had three great grandchildren named Kris, Hailey, Caleb and a 4th on the way
Fred was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he was a true hero. He had served his country in the U.S. Navy and Federal law enforcement. He had served in the Navy for 4 years and 10 years in the Naval Reserves. He had worked 10 years as a mail carrier and 20 years as a Postal Inspector for the U.S. Postal Service. After he had retired from the Inspection Service back in 1987, he worked for nearly 20 years as an individual income tax preparer for H&R Block. He also worked as an independent contractor private detective doing highly classified background checks for the U.S. Treasury Department and the Air Force for over a decade. Fred was one of the most dedicated NARPI……National Association Retired Postal Inspector members, serving as President and longtime Secretary. He rarely missed a meeting although he relied on his daughter, Linda, in the past year to be his driver and guest.
Fred loved bowling, roller skating, music, dancing and family & friends get together and holiday parties.
Fred Riffey Jr will always be in our hearts and memories and we will miss him very much, R.I.P.
