Donald Robert Sybil

Don Sybil was born on November 2th 1942. He grew up in Issaquah Washington where he enjoyed car racing and football. He was also an active outdoorsman from a young age, enjoying hunting, fishing, riding horses and camping. After high school he moved around the West working as an industrial painter and, by 21, was a vice president at a large Seattle based Industrial painting company. Just a few years later he started his own Industrial Painting company, Interstate Coatings Inc, in Seattle. Don’s business was very successful as he secured large contracts with the Alaska pipeline, the Panama Canal and Indianapolis 500 for his industrial painting services.

He married his high school sweetheart, Erma Hund, in 1962 and started their married life together in Seattle. In 1976 Don, Erma and their two kids, Terry and Jeff, moved to a beautiful home on acreage in East Wenatchee, WA. Don continued running his business and flying around the World, always able to make it home on weekends to enjoy the pool and spend time with family and friends.

Don had his hand in many businesses over the years in various industries including starting Apple Valley 1 Hour Photo in East Wenatchee, Washington in the 1980’s, Papa Johns Pizza & Skating Rink in Omak, Washington and many silent investing opportunities in the fruit industry and real estate speculation.

Don and Erma moved from Wenatchee when their kids went off to college, building a new home in Kent, Washington. Don continued running his business until retiring at 62. They traveled the US in their RV, lived in Sequim when not traveling and enjoyed a less hectic life. Later in retirement they made the move to Sandpoint Idaho where they had a new home built in the woods. He loved the outdoors and this was the perfect setting for them to settle and enjoy life.

Don had many friends in business, his church and wherever he traveled. Don showed his love for others by offering whatever he had to help. He was very generous to all that knew him with his time and resources. Don will be greatly missed by all those that had the opportunity to know him.

Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Erma, in Hayden, ID, his youngest son, Jeff, in Liberty Lake, WA and his eldest son, Terry, in Everett, WA.

Don will be laid to rest in the family plot at Greenwood Memorial in Renton, Washington.
