Harry William Smith, 75, of Bernville, entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born April 15, 1946 in Reading, PA he was a son to the late James and Theresa (Reinsmith) Smith.
Harry was a Reading High School graduate, class of 1964 and worked as a shipping supervisor for Bachman Pretzels, for 40 years until his retirement. He also held a membership with the NRA.
Harry was a U.S Army veteran proudly serving during the Vietnam War; where he earned several medals, including the National defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, 2 O/S bars and a Vietnam Service medal with 1 bronze star. He was also awarded a Purple Heart for his honorable service during the war.
Harry was an avid reader who enjoyed building scale WWII and Vietnam Military models. His work included elements of painting, sculpting and storytelling, he sometimes incorporated gadgets and lighting to control the viewpoint or mood.
Harry will be fondly remembered as being very creative, extremely detail oriented, having a wonderful outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. However above all else, he truly was an amazing father and grandfather and treasured making memories with his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all blessed enough to have known him.
Harry's spirit will be carried on by his wife of 16 years, Debra (Lorah) Smith; daughter Tiffany Ragan, of Sinking Spring; stepson Brian Shollenberger and his wife Kristi, of Florence, AL; 2 sisters Connie Clewell and her husband William, Lori Latshaw and her husband Ray; 3 grandchildren Cady Rae Monasmith, Riley William Monasmith and Gage Ragan and 3 stepgrandchildren, Haley Stutts, Hannah Shollenberger and Hayden Shollenberger. Harry also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Harry was greeted in heaven by his sister Linda Arbogast.
A viewing for Harry will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Auman's Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reiffton, PA 19606. Prayer service will promptly commence in the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Graveside committal with military honors will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606.
