Larry was born on January 13, 1951 in Lafleche, Saskatchewan to Peter and Simone (Lesy) Pilsner. Larry is
survived by his loving wife of 50 Years. On August 7, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart and
soulmate, Marlene Beaton. Together they raised 2 sons, Kris (Diana Campoli) Ryan (Jodi Henderson), and
a daughter, Nadine (Brett Selinger). Larry was very proud of his family and treasured his grandchildren:
Wyatt, Josh, Sam, Ethan, Kayden, Farrah, and Chase.
Larry inspired resilience and was a hardworking man known for his energy, quick wit, and infectious
smile – living by the motto---“If you want opportunity to knock then build a door”. With a kind, and
generous spirit, he served all those around him, building many things but above all a beautiful life full of
love.
Larry had a fulfilling career and talent for carpentry and commercial construction. Larry and Marlene
designed and built numerous houses together. They loved sitting together and dreaming about their
next great idea that Larry would soon turn into a project that they would complete together. Their
friendship and admiration for one other was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing them.
Near and dear to his heart, most of all, were his children. Larry played an important role in Kris, Ryan and
Nadine’s lives. He enjoyed helping his children build beautiful homes and designing his daughters dance
studio. He never missed an opportunity to attend their dance and band performances. His children were
his priority and he was so proud of everything they had accomplished and the families they had gone on
to raise.
When the children were young Larry enjoyed participating in their activities by attending and coaching
softball and hockey. As they grew he enjoyed and cherished the times they were able to golf together,
attend the NASCAR races, salmon fish in northern B.C. and be with his daughter and grandsons at dance
competitions or visiting by the pool. He was a patient, intelligent, knowledgeable teacher to his sons
and daughter and their children and was the greatest, proudest “dance dad”.
He was very close with his son-in-law Brett, who feels very grateful to have known Larry and the
respectful, patient man he was. Brett was looking forward to completing their new dance studio with
Larry and having his son’s learn from him just as Brett has over the years.
Working at Graham Construction, during his career. Larry was part of the “Graham Family” and was well
praised and respected. Even into his retirement, 10 years ago, he still wore his Graham Construction pin
with pride. Some of the praises received by friends and co-workers since his passing have included that
Larry was gracious, kind, had an excellent work ethic and that he was a true gentleman in every way.
Larry never took shortcuts, always did the right thing and included everyone in all aspects of his life,
career and family.
In their retirement, Marlene and Larry loved to travel. They enjoyed every winter in Mesa, Arizona,
boarding cruise ships, traveling to Europe and other locations, visiting family and friends along the way.
Larry had an appreciation for music and truly enjoyed attending concerts, theater events and enjoying
the arts with Marlene during their travels.
Larry was looking forward to the 2022 graduation of his grandchild, Josh, and all of the other
grandchildren’s graduations to come. He had a life well lived, surrounded by love, respect, and adoration
from many.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, father Peter, mother Simone, Marlene’s father Maurice and
mother Colleen, sisters Carol and Marlene, brother Ron, brother-in-law Eric, nephew Randy and niece
Lisa.
We loved Larry deeply and will hold him forever in our hearts : brother Allen (Barb) Pilsner sister-in-law
Shirley Pilsner brother in-law Danny Beaton, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends
In lieu of flowers or a memorial donation, the family asks that you hold your memories with Larry close
to your heart and appreciate any time that you had spent with him. Larry’s wishes were to have a
Celebration of Life, which will be held at a later date.
“Say not in grief he is no more but live-in thankfulness that he was”
